We are very proud to announce that our mixed-use development project in Wuhan (China) has been officially selected as the winning bid.
Developed by our teams in record time last February, the project has now reached a major milestone: it is officially entering the public consultation phase for the planning permission application, whilst groundworks and excavation are getting underway, with completion scheduled for March 2027.
The project is situated on Wuluo Road, the main thoroughfare in Wuchang District. A true showcase for the city, this extremely busy avenue has until now suffered from a lack of breathing space. By redeveloping the site of the former coach station, our ambition goes far beyond mere construction: we are creating a new public space for the city.
The concept: architecture serving function and the landscape
How can we design a high-density development (nearly 30,000 m²) whilst providing a place for residents to relax and socialise?
– Dynamic integration: By aligning with the urban grid and the sun’s path, the building steps back from the avenue to free up ground space and create welcoming forecourts.
– Offset volumes: This architectural design ensures 100 per cent compliance with sunlight requirements and opens up magnificent views towards Sheshan Hill for the offices and the hotel.
– Calm pedestrian flows: The project ensures a seamless connection to the underground and offers local residents a pleasant, green route through the shops as part of their daily commute.
Some figures:
29,950 m² in total
Hotel: 13,100 m²
Offices: 8,140 m²
Retail space: 2,580 m²
Underground spaces: 5,690 m²
Park and green spaces: 1,400 m²
Well done to the whole Arte Charpentier team for this achievement, and a big thank you to our partners for their trust and collaboration on this major project!
