On the occasion of the Metropolitan Planning International Conference (MPIC 2025), Antonio Frausto (Associate Architect, Design Director, R&I, Communication at Arte Charpentier) participated in a trip to Shanghai, alongside the APUR (Parisian urban planning workshop) and international partners on the emblematic site of Fuxing Island, former industrial territory in the process of being transformed into an urban innovation laboratory.

A trip punctuated by visits to major sites, work sessions and institutional exchanges such as:

  • Reference visits in heritage rehabilitation and urban reconversion (Shanghai Fashion Center and Sinan Mansions, two rehabilitation projects carried out by Arte Charpentier in the past)
  • Participation in the Youth Salon, dedicated to the reversibility of spaces and the smart city
  • International plenary sessions on the Shanghai metropolitan strategy
  • A meeting around the strengthening of Arte Charpentier’s presence in Shanghai, in connection with the legacy of Jean-Marie Charpentier

This trip confirms the role of Shanghai as a key territory for reflection on sustainable cities, climate resilience and new forms of urban governance, and opens up new prospects for international cooperation for the agency.
