Office completions, awards, events in 2024

To kick off the new year, we’d like to take a look back at the highlights of 2024 for the Arte Charpentier office and its commitment to sustainable development.

Park of the Edge, Sino-French Eco-City of Caidian, Wuhan
urban planning – landscape

In 2024, the Park of the Edges of the Peninsula of the Sino-French Eco-City of Caidian, located in Wuhan, will mark a major step forward in environmentally-friendly urban development. This pioneering project covers an area of 2.2 km², right in the heart of an ecologically sensitive zone. The entire chain of wetlands surrounding the lake has been preserved.

Arsenal block, Dijon
architecture – interior design

The Arsenal block includes the city’s first positive-energy housing tower.
Environmental certifications: BEPOS, NF Habitat
A base housing offices and the headquarters of the Elithis Group
51 social housing lots with a total living area of around 3,350 m².
59 home-ownership lots with a total living area of around 3,723 m².

Wuchang CBD Riverside Railway Park, Wuhan
urban planning – landscape

The Wuchang Riverside Railway Park, in Wuhan, combines heritage and modernity: 7 restored historic buildings and an old railway line integrated into the urban landscape, offering a unique space for leisure and culture.

Floressence, Bobigny
architecture – landscape
Designed as an eco-responsible project, Floressence comprises 101 homes, including 79 affordable homes and 22 social housing units in Bobigny. Resolutely open to the city and the greenery, the project boasts beautiful views of the nautical centre and the future square. The urban architecture features brown and grey render and dark bricks.

Rolland Courbet district, Bagneux

Arte Charpentier has been working with the city of Bagneux and Sadev 94 for over 10 years. Our work on the Victor Hugo eco-neighbourhood embodies this commitment, laying the foundations for a sustainable urban transformation that respects the living environment, pays attention to the management of water resources and the development of nature in the city.

Ecla Campus, Massy-Palaiseau
architecture – interior design – landscape
Completion of the 2nd phase of this residence for students and young professionals, making it the largest co-living facility in Europe. The ground floor is home to the residence’s living spaces and services: a vast reception area, a coworking/cooking area and a fitness/coworking area accessible from the central forecourt.

FTI Consulting headquarters, rue Bassano, Paris
interior design
Arte Charpentier designed a ‘haute-couture’ interior for FTI Consulting to reflect the prestige of its Paris headquarters. At the heart of our design, we created a dynamic centre, playing on transparencies, optimising office spaces for collaboration.

Ganhi market, Cotonou
architecture – landscape – construction site

Construction, modernisation and extension of a network of 35 markets in Benin, 29 of which were built by the office. Inaugurated in the presence of President Patrice Talon, the Ganhi market stands out for its modular prefabrication, natural ventilation and use of bricks, supporting the local industry, which the network of markets has helped to develop. Over the coming months, construction sites will be launched for the other markets entrusted to the office.

Hindu Temple BAPS Mandir Paris, Bussy-St-Georges

The first traditional Hindu temple in Europe will be completed in 2026. The project is committed to sustainable practices, both environmentally, with the use of solid natural stone in the construction, and socio-culturally, with its integration into the esplanade of religions.

Sequana, Paris XIII

Initially designed by Arte Charpentier, this office complex will be refurbished to meet the requirements of Paris’s PLU B and the tertiary sector decree. The project incorporates new uses by creating an active base and planting the exterior spaces extensively, in particular the rooftop.

Helios II Campus, Thales Group, Meudon
­architecture – landscape – interior design
Scheduled for completion in 2027, the Campus will become the largest Thales site in the world, covering 110,000 m² and housing 5,500 employees. The Campus will be distinguished by its use of bio-sourced materials, such as low-carbon concrete and reused millstone, a passive façade, and its integration into a park, a veritable green lung.

ECLA Campus, Lomme
­architecture – landscape – interior design
This new campus for students and young workers will welcome its residents at the start of the 2025 academic year, and is part of the Lille Metropolitan Area’s Low Carbon Charter.

Housing for the army, Bricy
­architecture – landscape – interior design
Located on the highly sensitive site of 123 Orléans-Bricy air base, the 480 accommodation units, prefabricated off-site using bio-sourced materials such as wood and low-carbon concrete, will be delivered in 2026.
­

Hankou Mansion, Wuhan
­architecture 
Scheduled for completion in May 2025, the Hankou Mansion housing development stands out for its meticulous urban integration and the importance given to plants, encouraging biophilia. This careful approach has contributed to its success, with 80% of the flats sold in a single day.
­
­
Secteur Yangyuan, Wuhan
­urban planning – architecture
Launch of the urban renewal of Yangyuan, creating a new centrality between Wuhan’s two business centres. A new green space dedicated to leisure activities, it pays tribute to the site’s railway past.
­
­
Pôle Commerces GMK, Cotonou
­architecture – landscape – construction site
This large-scale urban renewal project includes a shopping centre with over 1,500 shops and sales areas, a public park, an agora and green car parks to accommodate visitors to sporting events.
­

­
Ulteam, Headquarters of Cisco France, Paris VIII
Completed in 2022, Ulteam, the French headquarters of the Cisco group, located on rue de Washington in Paris, was recently honoured with the Brass award at the ‘Nuit de l’Immo 2024’ ceremony. The award was presented for its innovative architecture and workspace design.

Auction to benefit Emergency Architects

On 3 December 2024, the charity auction organised by Architectes de l’Urgence at the Maison de l’Architecture en Île-de-France was a great success, bringing together art lovers, architecture professionals and committed supporters of the association’s humanitarian actions around the world.

Archi-folies, Ministry of Culture, Paris Olympic Games 2024, La Villette
­
The office is sponsoring the Pavilion created by Ensa Paris-Belleville for the Archi-Folies event: a meeting between architecture and sport as part of the Paris Olympic Games 2024.

Lecture on the work of Paul Andreu, Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine
A lecture by Pierre Clément, a member of the Board of Directors, providing his expertise on the emergence of French architectural offices in China, of which Arte Charpentier was one of the pioneers.

Day of the Architectural Economy Observatory
­
At a round table discussion on support schemes for architecture offices, Raquel Milagres, Deputy General Director, explained why Arte Charpentier had decided to join the first session of the Bpifrance Architecture and Design Accelerator.

Speaking at the SIMI Expertise Centre
­
Jérôme Le Gall, General Director, presented the Étoile – Boulevard Blanqui project, an emblematic and exemplary renovation in terms of carbon reduction, at a conference organised as part of the Decarbonation cluster of expertise at SIMI 2024.

9th edition of the ‘Cadre de ville’ forum
­
Focus No. 8 was chaired by Nathalie Leroy, Director of the Territory Team, who addressed a topical issue: the development of land at the gateway to the city, from the point of view of the inherited city and the challenges of urban transformation.

5th International Colloquium ‘Cities + People’, La Paz
­
At a dedicated round table, Antonio Frausto, Director of Research and Innovation, emphasised the crucial role of nature-based solutions for optimising the hydrological cycle in projects developed by Arte Charpentier.

Unesco Design Days, Wuhan
­
Pierre Clément, Board Director, and Mingding Pan, Asia Director, represented Arte Charpentier in Wuhan, a key city in our history, where we have designed over 30 projects in 40 years. The event, supported by UNESCO, brought together experts from around the world to explore the challenges of sustainable urban design.

French Eco City Club, Wuhan
­
Jérôme Le Gall, General Director, was invited to speak at the ‘French Eco City Club’ in Wuhan. He presented the Sino-French eco-city of Caidian in Wuhan. Strengthening Sino-French links in sustainable urban planning and paving the way for new opportunities for cooperation in the construction and urban development sector.

Winner of Archifoot tournament
­
For the first time in its history, in association with the DVVD office, Arte Charpentier has won the Archifoot Indoor tournament, in a final against Atelier Jean Nouvel.
­

National Architecture Days
­
We presented two projects, one delivered: the Arsenal Tower with the Maison de l’architecture de Bourgogne and the Sequana construction site, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, during two visits: influencer and student focus.
­
­
ISO 9001 and 14001 certified
­
For several years now, the office has been committed to this approach, building on work begun nearly 15 years ago to optimise the environmental impact of the office itself, as a workplace, and to develop sustainable projects designed by the team for our customers.
­
­
New board of directors for Arte
­
The office has announced a new governance structure and welcomed ten new partners. Jérôme Le Gall becomes General Director alongside Abbès Tahir, Stéphanie Siac and Raquel Milagres, while Andrew Hobson succeeds Pierre Clément as Chairman.
