The project is situated in the vicinity of the planned major regional transport hub in Xidong, a new town to the east of Wuxi. The new hub will provide a multi-mode transfer between the new intercity high-speed rail link, local subway, bus, taxi, and Wuxi airport shuttle. The principal idea behind the project is that of an urban ‘salon’, a place of culture in the heart of the city, where people meet and relax. Four districts with different characters surround a new lake. These are, the commercial district, the cultural district, the urban park district and the central park itself.
A sequence of landscaped public spaces and ‘events’ are linked by a central urban axis including the main square, the riverside plaza, the fountain on the lake, and the festival plaza on the opposite side of the lake.
Restaurants, cafés, boutiques, a concert hall, an exhibition centre, a theme park, clubs, apartments, offices.
