Winner of the Public-Private Partnership contract competition organized by the Ministry of Defence, Arte Charpentier Architectes delivered the headquarters of the General Direction of the National Gendarmerie (DGGN) today. For the first time in decades, this will gather various services, which were previously scattered across 12 sites in Ile-de-France, in Issy-les-Moulineaux.
This project was also the object of an HQE certification, the principal objectives of which were to insure a harmonious relation with the immediate environment, to reduce the energy needs and to optimize the management of the maintenance and management. The project is thus emblematic of the values of environmental quality and sustainable development defended by the DGGN as elements that are inseparable from architectural quality. Institutional prestige of a large national public facility, the architectural project consolidates the will of the Ministry of Defence to associate history and modernity, pavilion district and military memorial site. The headquarters of the DGGN is resolutely contemporary and is thus easily integrated in the neighbourhood, while organically extending the military bastion.
