On Monday 21st September, Marie-France Bouet, head of urbanism at Arte Charpentier, presented the urban project for Caidan Sino-French eco-city in Wuhan during a televised interview for CCTV-13 and the channel 16 of Hubei province.
This special report entitled “A perspective on the Present” was filmed in preparation for the upcoming 19th National Congress of the Communist Party which will take place in October. It highlights the contribution of the Chinese people in all sectors in Hubei since the coming to power of Xi Jinping in 2012.
The Caidan Sino-French eco-city project, which won the competition in June, was launched in 2014 through the joint signature of intent between the two governments, and aims to showcase French and Chinese know-how in terms of sustainable urban development.
With more than 11 million inhabitants, Wuhan city is faced with multiple social and environmental challenges. The Caidan Sino-French eco-city, the fruit of a bilateral cooperation on sustainable urban development, in addition to becoming a model for urban development, is set to become a veritable testing ground for innovatory solutions addressing the whole range of issues relating to the built environment such as urbanism, architecture, transport, energy, landscape, water management, waste management, biodiversity etc.
